At Spearhead Turf we're always interested in finding new and original uses for our premium lawn turf so when we were asked to donate some turf to help a local charity with it's FIREWALKING event how could we refuse!

650 degrees centigrade!

Here's Sarah Wedmore from Campus Children's Holidays to tell all...

"On Saturday 19th November, Spearhead Turf generously donated 38 metres squared of quality turf for a charity Firewalking event in Cambridge. The turf protected the cobbles at Murray Edwards College from cracking under the heat of the 3 metre long fire. The fire burnt down to red-hot embers reaching temperatures of 650 degrees centigrade, and 25 fundraisers were sponsored to walk barefoot across it.

The event raised over £4000 for Campus Children's Holidays, a Cambridge-based charity that provides respite holidays for disadvantaged children who are referred from social services as being in need of a break from what is often a difficult home life. You can find out more about the charity at www.campuschildrensholidays.wordpress.com. The much-needed funds that were raised will allow them to run their upcoming Winter Project - a reunion for all their disadvantaged children over the Christmas period.

Campus Children's Holidays wouldn't have been able to run this successful event without the kind donation of turf, and the firewalking company said it was the best quality turf they've ever firewalked on!"

Red hot turf.

You can see more photo's of the event on our facebook page and if you have any original uses for turf make sure to tell us about it.
